Our being is composed of five elements - Ether, Air, Fire, Earth, and Water. According to yoga texts, we can increase, decrease, or bring these elements with the help of yoga hand gestures.

Kaya Mudras 

"Kaya Mudras are yoga body gestures, which beginners or intermediate yoga aspirants can use to deepen the asana routines. There are six types of them that combine yoga poses with specific points of awareness and breathing patterns to increase the flow of prana in a particular region of the body."
